Wins Electric City Film Fest for the 2nd year in a row

Edison Exploratorium takes 1st place for the "Why Schenectady? Documentary" "Wizards of Schenectady: Carl H. Rosner Pioneer in Superconductors."

The Electric City Film Fest hosted by SAACTV-16 Schenectady was held at the GE Theatre (Proctors) Thursday October 23rd 2008.

For the 2nd year in a row the entry, directed by Mike Whelan and narrated by Jack Aernecke took first prize.

The story of the fascinating life of local genius Carl H. Rosner. His story of survival begins in Nazi Germany and continues in Schenectady, where he found success as an technical, entreneueur and leader.

Carl and the GE Research team created the world's most powerful magnets. Later, Carl moved on to found Intermagnetics General with Paul Swartz. IGC becomes a leading supplier of magnets for the MRI, and the world's first company to make superconductive technologies profitable. This documentary features interviews with other industry legends Howard Hart, Mark Benz, Paul Swartz, Garry Morrow, Pier Abetti and more.
